Our events are designed for adventurous individuals and teams who thrive on challenges. Whether you’re an endurance athlete, a weekend warrior, or part of a corporate group seeking team development, Terra Venture welcomes you to step out of your comfort zone.
Where & when will the next event take place?
Our March 2025 event is set in the stunning region of Guatapé, Antioquia, Colombia. Known for its vibrant villages, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality, Guatapé offers a mix of safety, accessibility, and incredible biodiversity. The region is thriving with tourism and is considered safe for travelers, making it an ideal location for our next event.
Why not an event in the US?
The main challenge lies in the permit process with national agencies like the US Forest Service (USFS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM). While it’s already a lengthy process for defined-route events, the complexity grows exponentially for navigation events where participants choose their own paths—including off-trail routes.
We are actively searching for private land large and diverse enough to host a US-based event, but in the meantime, our international locations provide the ideal mix of freedom, natural beauty, and cultural richness.

Who is behind Terra Venture?
Terra Venture is the brainchild of Charles Triponez and Roy Malone, who bring unmatched expertise to every event. With over 20 years of expedition racing experience at the highest level, including the Adventure Race World Series and Championship, ECO-Challenge and Primal Quest, they’ve consistently finished in the top 5 on the global stage. They’ve raced across all continents (except Antarctica) and tackled every type of ecosystem imaginable.
Beyond racing, Charles and Roy have organized multi-sport events in the US and coached numerous individuals and teams, including beginners, to succeed in the world of adventure racing. Their combined experience ensures that every Terra Venture event is safe, expertly designed, and deeply transformative.

Will I be safe out there?
Safety is our top priority, and we have multiple layers of safety mechanisms in place:
1. Guides/Guías: A seasoned World-Level Adventure Racer will join your team throughout the journey. They act as your first responders, motivators, and navigators. Equipped with satellite trackers, they can call for support in case of any serious issues.
2. Local Team Support: Led by World Series Adventure Race Directors, our local staff, including medics, are always nearby, ready to assist whenever needed.
3. Global Rescue Partnership: Each participant receives a Global Rescue membership for the event’s duration. As experts in extraction and emergency response, their team is ready to handle any situation, no matter how complex.

Are Terra Venture events races?
No, Terra Venture events are not traditional races. While teams of varying speeds may take different routes — faster teams exploring optional routes and slower teams following more direct paths — all teams converge at the same rest points. The focus is on the journey, teamwork, and personal growth rather than competition.
How physically demanding are the events?
Our events are designed to challenge participants both physically and mentally, combining multi-sport activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking across rugged terrain. While you don’t need to be a seasoned athlete, a good baseline of fitness and an adventurous spirit are essential to get the most out of the experience.

Do I need a team to participate?
Yes, Terra Venture events are team-based, designed for groups of 2-3 participants. If you don’t have a full team, we can help pair you with like-minded adventurers.
How does navigation work?
Participants navigate using maps and compasses to chart the most efficient route, adding a unique layer of strategy and problem-solving to the experience. However, the Guides/Guías are there to serve as backup navigators if needed.
